Choosing a used LED display should begin with the project, not with a product name. A catalogue can show pixel pitch, cabinet format, and application labels, but a project buyer still needs to know whether a real configuration will work at the venue, on the schedule, and within the operating conditions. That is why the first Stellux service step is not simply “select a model.” It is a structured conversation that connects application, viewing conditions, cabinet format, quantity, and destination.

The first question is practical: what will the screen do? An outdoor festival, a touring rental system, a corporate conference, a church installation, a retail environment, and a broadcast-support wall may all use LED display technology, but they do not place the same demands on the equipment. A rental company may care about repeated handling, fast assembly, and a cabinet format that fits its existing workflow. An event producer may care about the screen area, the audience sightline, and whether the content needs to remain legible in daylight. An integrator may need to coordinate the display with a control system, structural plan, power distribution, and site access. The same pixel pitch can therefore lead to different recommendations when the project context changes.

Viewing distance is another early input. Pixel pitch is meaningful only alongside the distance and the content. A close audience viewing a presentation, camera image, or detailed graphic may need a different balance of pitch and screen size from an audience watching a large outdoor stage. The right conversation does not start by promising that one number is universally best. It asks where the closest viewers will stand, what content will be shown, whether cameras will be involved, and how much of the screen must remain readable from the back of the venue.

Cabinet format turns the general idea into a physical planning question. The team needs to understand the cabinet dimensions, the intended orientation, the quantity, and the way the cabinets will be handled. For a rental application, the customer may already have flight cases, spare parts, rigging habits, or a preferred working height. For a fixed installation, the customer may have a wall opening, a steel frame, a service corridor, or a restricted loading route. The first recommendation should therefore use a real cabinet format instead of an abstract screen area. The quotation and later engineering discussion become much clearer when they start from the same physical configuration.

Quantity and destination are equally important. A buyer may say “I need a large screen,” but the working requirement needs more structure: target width and height, approximate area, number of cabinets, and final destination. The destination affects packing, handover, transport coordination, local site conditions, and the information that may still need confirmation. A screen intended for a European touring route may be planned differently from one intended for a single indoor venue. Stellux should not invent a freight lead time or make a delivery promise at this stage. It should record the destination so that the next discussion can use the right facts.

Condition must be discussed without hiding behind a vague label. Used equipment is not one uniform category. Age, cosmetic condition, functional condition, repair history, and available evidence are separate parts of the conversation. A cabinet may show handling marks while still being suitable for a particular application; another cabinet may look clean but require a power-on check before its condition can be understood. The responsible way to present a recommendation is to explain what is visible, what has already been checked, and what still depends on the batch inspection. Stellux should not use unapproved A+ to C definitions or invent a grade standard merely to make the product card look complete.

This first step is also where the customer can decide how much information is ready. If the exact quantity is not known, the buyer can share a target range. If the viewing distance is still being designed, the buyer can describe the venue and audience layout. If the destination is pending, that uncertainty can remain visible. A clear unknown is more useful than a false certainty because the sales and engineering review can return to it deliberately.

The result of S01 is not a final promise. It is a working direction: a real product family or configuration, a target quantity, a project use case, and a list of information that needs confirmation. This protects both sides from a common failure in used-equipment buying: the buyer sees a beautiful project photograph, assumes the same result is available, and only later discovers that the physical batch, cabinet format, or technical environment is different.

For overseas customers, clear wording matters. Use familiar terms such as indoor or outdoor application, rental or fixed installation, viewing distance, screen width and height, destination, and target date. If the project uses local units, share them plainly and keep the original units available for review. Do not overload the first contact with every technical parameter. The aim is to create a common starting point so the next question is more precise.

The best selection conversation feels like a short technical brief, not a sales contest. It respects the customer’s application, recognises the limits of a used inventory, and keeps the physical batch at the centre. When the product direction is tied to a real need, the later quotation, engineering review, inspection, and release can follow the same configuration. That continuity is the real value of the first step.
