Customer question: The used display looks fine to the eye. How can I know whether it will work on camera?

Camera performance cannot be confirmed by a normal viewing test alone. Use the actual camera, lens position, shutter, frame rate, exposure and intended content. Test gray gradients, faces, dark details, white transitions, fast motion and large areas of solid colour. Record the camera settings with the video. A phone’s rolling shutter can create bands on a screen that looks normal to the eye, while a real production camera may behave differently. Refresh rate is only one part of the result. Scan mode, driver configuration, synchronization, brightness, content frame rate and camera shutter also affect visible bands, flicker and motion. Do not promise that one refresh-rate setting will fix every camera. If the defect appears only on camera, compare another shutter and another camera before changing the receiving-card configuration. If the display flickers to the eye, continue checking power, signal, receiver parameters and internal connections. For a used-screen inspection, save the original configuration before changing refresh or grayscale settings. Test one known-good cabinet or receiver first, then compare the result. Keep the source file and test pattern available so the seller and buyer are looking at the same condition. Include a short camera clip, direct-view notes and the acceptance position in the report.
